Russian ministry ready to consider Mechel’s Ukrainian plant issue

MOSCOW, Jul 22 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Industry and Trade Ministry is ready to consider the situation with a possible loss of control over a Ukrainian plant of metals and mining group Mechel, Minister Denis Manturov told reporters late Thursday.

Mechel said Thursday that it had received an order from the government of the self-proclaimed Donetsk republic on the introduction of a temporary state control over the Donetsk Electrometallurgical Plant (DEMZ). These actions could mean a loss of control over the plant, the company said.

“I did not know this. Mechel has not turned to us with worries. If it does, we are ready to consider and think jointly how to behave in this situation,” Manturov said.
